New Section for 2019


Native plants are adapted to our climate and are naturally resistant to pests and diseases. These plants generally require less maintenance and help create habitat for wildlife in the garden.

AQUILEGIA
formosa
Western Columbine Delicate, blue-green, lobed foliage and pendent, yellow and red spurred flowers. May-Aug. Full to part sun. 2-3 ft.
ASCLEPIAS
speciosa
Showy Milkweed Pink to purple spikey flowers on large blue-green leaves. Manageable in the garden. Drought tolerant. Full sun. 1-2 ft.
CAMASSIA
leichtlinii
Greater Camas Clusters of linear, strappy foliage holds 2 in. star-shaped pale to deep lavender-blue flowers. Full sun. 2-3 ft.
CASTILLEJA
miniata
Scarlet Paintbrush Tall, erect, slightly sticky plant with few branches. Green to dark purple leaves are narrow with sharp tips. Full sun. 1-3 ft.
DODECATHEON
hendersonii
Western Shooting Star Unusual, recurved petals in electric hues of pink look like shooting stars. Nice addition to the garden. Full to part sun. 1 ft.
ERIOPHYLLUM
lanatum
Oregon Sunshine Green-gray, deeply lobed leaves set off the bright yellow daisy-like flowers. Drought tolerant. Full to part sun. 6-24 in.
ERYTHRONIUM
oregonum
Oregon Fawn Lily A single leafless stalk produces slightly nodding creamy white flowers with yellow stamen. Full to part sun. 6-16 in.
GEUM
triflorum
Prairie Smoke Reddish pink to purplish, nodding, globular flowers with lacey fruiting heads that follow. Full sun. 6-18 in.
IRIS
tenax
Oregon Flag Deciduous, low-growing with thin grass like leaves. Grows in compact clumps. Showy flowers. Full to part sun. 6-18 in.
LILIUM
columbianum
Columbia Lily Tall lily with a smooth, unbranched stem. Bell-shaped flowers are strikingly delicate. Full to part sun. 2-4 ft.
LUPINUS
polyphyllus
Bigleaf Lupine Stout plants with large dense flower spikes June-July. Showy as specimen or in mass plantings. Full to part sun. 2-4 ft.
PENSTEMON
serrulatus
Cascade Penstemon Clusters of blueish-purple flowers on tall stems of long, sharp-toothed hairless leaves. Full sun. 18-24 in.
